How long does it take to complete a set of calligraphed envelopes?
It typically takes 3 weeks from the time we receive both your completed list of names & addresses, and envelopes from you or your stationer. If you’re interested in a rush order, please contact us before placing an order, to ensure we’ll be able to accommodate your timeframe.
How long to complete placecards and escort cards?
Day-of materials typically take 2 weeks, depending on the material you would like them written on (paper is quicker than, say, oyster shells!)
And for custom projects?
Custom projects such as announcements or invitation designs take about 4 weeks, depending on complexity. Please note that if you would like us to facilitate printing, that can add 1 – 2 weeks to the total completion time.
How do I get my paper products or other materials to Lacquer for calligraphy?
If you would like to hand deliver your materials to us, we can arrange a time for you to drop them off at our studio in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, DC. Alternately you can mail them to us, though we do advise you request a tracking number to avoid any mishaps. We’ll provide you with our address upon placement of the order.
How does Lacquer return the completed products to me?
Depending on the type of product, there are three ways:
- By Hand–When the calligraphy is complete we are happy to hand deliver the product to you if you are within a 10 mile radius of downtown Washington, DC.
- By Post–We can ship the product back to you along with a tracking number and insurance.
- Digitally–For products that you will be printing yourself, we will send you the digital file that is formatted for your printer. If you will be printing the design in letterpress or gold foil, please let us know, as that requires a different file type.
*Please note, if we are facilitating printing for one of our products, we’ll still oversee delivery of the final product to you.
I would like Lacquer to facilitate printing for me, how does that work?
Fantastic! We pair up with other small businesses in the DC area for our printing needs, so working with us supports our creative community. We request that you let us know when placing your order if you plan to use our printer, as we will want to get on their calendar as early as possible. Once we establish the overall design and look, I will get a custom printing quote for you, and upon final approval of the design, coordinate production. Letterpress, embossing, gold foil, and a variety of printing materials and styles can be accommodated.
